The Italian Club Fish

Scottish-Italian fish restaurant on Bold Street since 2009

The Italian Club Fish is a seafood restaurant at 128 Bold Street, Liverpool, opened in 2009 by chef Maurizio Pellegrini and Rosaria Crolla as sister to The Italian Club. Its 'Fish Caffé' concept blends the Crolla family's Scottish-Italian fish-and-chip heritage with Pellegrini's Puglian coastal cooking.

From Picinisco to Bold Street

The restaurant traces its roots to Italian emigrants who left the mountain village of Picinisco for Glasgow and Edinburgh, where they supplied fish and chips to local communities. The Italian Club Fish opened on Bold Street in 2009, founded by Chef Patron Maurizio Pellegrini and Rosaria Crolla, and celebrated ten years in 2019.

Bold Street was named after Jonas Bold, a sugar trader, banker and slave trader who became Mayor of Liverpool in 1802. The street was laid out for residences around 1780 on land associated with rope-making, the trade that gives the surrounding Ropewalks district its name: long, parallel streets allowed rope for sailing ships to be laid out during manufacture.
