The building

Hanover Street, Liverpool's first merchant street

Hanover Street was the first of the streets of merchant housing laid out as Liverpool expanded inland from its docks in the 18th century, followed by Duke Street and then Bold Street. Today it links the Ropewalks and Duke Street with Liverpool ONE and the Albert Dock side of the city centre.

Nearby, 12 Hanover Street is a Grade II listed brick and terracotta office block of 1889–90 by Edmund Kirby.

Hanover Street Social opened at 16–20 Hanover Street in August 2011, the second restaurant from the team behind Salt House Tapas.
