A Victorian corner of Cases Street
The Globe dates from 1888. CAMRA records a compact layout of a front bar and a smaller rear room, with Victorian friezes and 1920s fixed seating surviving through later renovations. The front floor slopes noticeably, the feature for which the pub is best known locally.
The pub has a long association with the real-ale movement: a brass plaque commemorates the inaugural meeting of CAMRA Merseyside, held here in January 1974. The local CAMRA branch named it Best Community Pub in 2012.
In February 2026 the pub reopened after a £200,000 refurbishment by owner Punch Pubs & Co, now run within the Unity Social portfolio. The work kept the heritage murals, original joinery and the walls of historic photographs.
