Liverpool Philharmonic Hall
Home of the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra. The Art Deco hall on Hope Street was designed by Herbert J. Rowse to replace the orchestra's first hall, destroyed by fire on 5 July 1933, and opened on 19 June 1939. It is Grade II* listed and stands in the Georgian Quarter, a short walk from both cathedrals.
What was here before: This corner of Hope Street was once the home of William Hope (1751–1827), the merchant the street is named after. The first Philharmonic Hall opened here on 27 August 1849 and was destroyed by fire on 5 July 1933; Herbert J. Rowse's Art Deco hall replaced it in 1939.
