The building

A goods warehouse in the Baltic Triangle

Manifest occupies the ground floor of a converted warehouse on Watkinson Street, just off Jamaica Street. The restaurant's architects, Studio R2A, describe it as a goods warehouse around 150 years old, and the room keeps its bare brick walls and original pillars.

The Baltic Triangle takes its name, most likely, from the timber imported from Scandinavia and the Baltic that filled its yards and warehouses in the nineteenth century. The area was heavily bombed in the Second World War and declined afterwards, before artists and small businesses moved into its warehouses from the mid-2000s; Baltic Creative was set up in 2009.
