Casa Buone
High Street Energy Gateway.
In the shadow of Liverpool Town Hall, on a street that has existed since the city was founded by King John in 1207 — an Italian table at the crossroads of eight centuries of commerce, decisions and departure.
Born in 1207.
Still here.
High Street is not simply old. It is one of the seven original streets of Liverpool — laid out by royal order of King John in 1207, when the city was granted its charter and the first streets were planned in the shape of a double cross. High Street was the crossbar.
It was originally called "Juggler Street" — named for the street performers and entertainers who gathered here in medieval times. Liverpool's first Town Hall was recorded on this very street in 1515. Its first Custom House stood here. And when the current Town Hall was built between 1749 and 1754 — described as "one of the finest surviving 18th-century town halls" in England — it was built directly adjacent to where Casa Buone stands today.
"The merchants preferred to transact business in the street outside." — On the original Town Hall, 1754
For three centuries, this corner was where shipowners, merchants, insurers and lawyers gathered — not inside buildings, but in the street itself. The contracts signed in these offices determined which ships left the Mersey, which cargoes crossed the Atlantic, and which families would move permanently from one continent to another. High Street was the nervous centre of a global trading empire.
The frequency of agreements.
The dominant energy here is about choice, commitment and exchange. For sensitive people the space feels charged, organised and slightly electric — like standing inside a permanent moment of "yes or no".
Eight centuries of negotiation have accumulated in these stones. The decisions taken here — about cargoes, voyages, contracts and commerce — created ripples that reached every continent. That weight of human intention does not simply disappear. It settles into the architecture, into the ground, into the very air of the space.
- Supports decisions about business and finances

An Italian table in a global crossroads.
Today Casa Buone welcomes guests into a warm, contemporary Italian and Sicilian atmosphere. The noise of quill pens and carriage wheels has been replaced by the sound of glasses, cutlery and conversation in many languages.
When you sit down to eat here, you are still surrounded by movement: office workers crossing between meetings, visitors exploring the Town Hall and people arriving from trains, planes and ferries. The port is different, but the feeling of connection to the wider world remains.
Old Town Liverpool uses this location as a live example of how a building records intention. The emotional imprint of eight centuries of negotiation becomes a resource you can consciously tap into while you dine, reflect or plan your next step. Ready to experience High Street as more than "just another restaurant"?
